Yasuaki Kagii

Yasuaki Kagii

Born in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
Underwater photographer and SSI Dive Control Specialist.
He honed his underwater photography skills while working as a dive guide in Australia, Izu, and the Maldives.
He has photographed a wide range of subjects from plankton to whales, and has been documenting the seas of Iwate since the March 11, 2011 disaster.
He has appeared in numerous media programs, including “Jounetsu Tairiku”, “Crazy Journey” and “Shiten・Ronten”, and has published numerous photo books.
Awards include the 2003 Newcomer’s Award from the Photographic Society of Japan, and the 2013 and 2015 Nikkei National Geographic Excellence Awards.
